JANUARY 28th, 2020

Thanks for last night, SATB- we didn’t get everything done I had planned, but we made great progress on the pieces we worked on (don’t forget what we did last night- more to come this weekend!).

THIS SATURDAY (2/1): SATB 10-12, SSAA 12:30-2:30 (Ladies staying, we will order lunch again)

Rehearsals through “Stuff & Nonsense” (Sunday, Feb. 23rd):

SATB:

Saturday, February 1, 10:00 am-12:00 pm

Monday, February 10, 6:00-6:45 pm

SSAA:

Saturday, February 1, 12:30-2:30 pm

Monday, February 3, 6:00-6:45 pm

Monday, February 17, 6:00-6:45 pm

TO DO LIST (SATB) (only 2 more rehearsals before S&N!):

The Argument

o Memorize- memorize all (or at least get VERY familiar with it!). We will learn the rest of the choral-ography Saturday; there are tracks on this in Chorus Connection

o Watch the Vancouver Youth Choir Video for how we will do “choral-ography” with looks, crossed arms, gestures, etc.). Feel free to make notes on your own- that will save us time on Saturday

Connected

o Memorize- all. I would like to look at some (this should be the easiest of all): Memorize to letter D (p. 6)

In Meeting We Are Blessed

I’ll have new copies… here’s one version (several on YouTube): https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/media-player.jsp?&type=audio&productID=10589968

Water Fountain

o Memorize- have the first 8 pages memorized by Monday, January 27

o This is what we did Monday night- don’t forget this(!):

§ P. 13, m. 60-61, that weird “key change” and Haitian Creole words (“she poo zahn me mwhen”)

§ P. 14, m. 64-65 actual key change! (we did this well!)

§ P. 15, m. 71-72- thing a caress “would jas” (need to add the choralography!)

§ Here’s another version that (to me) is a little tighter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1Czm08I2R0

TO DO LIST (SSAA):

Put It In The Piggy

here’s our recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEDyde-uHUM

o Memorize- memorize the first 4 pages by Saturday, Feb. 1 (all if you can!)

o Be prepared for some “choral-ography!”

o Here’s the notes for page 7-8 (same as last week, just want to make sure)

§ M. 53 (w/pickup)-m. 54 (1st phrase)- sopranos only

§ M. 54 (w/pickup)-m. 55- altos only

§ M. 55-56- all (sopranos top, altos bottom)

§ M. 57- Farmer Jerry only

§ M. 58- all

§ M. 59- Farmer Jerry only

§ M. 60- all

o Watch out (make yourself some notes!) that m. 70 (p. 9) is half as fast… (SLOWER!)

o Here’s a recording of the accompaniment only that we used: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yAyWQ48E1o

o Here’s some choral-ography (heads up!) that we will select from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEbh_OpaXGc

· Mashed Potato/Love Poem -here’s a great recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0LuXKYM_sY)

o Memorize if you wish but not required

o Musical expression!

Bring Me Little Water, Silvy

o If not memorized yet- memorize!

o ALL work on the body percussion using the tutorial video in Chorus Connection

Thanks, everyone- see you Saturday!!
